The Norwegian archipelago of Svalbard, with a location in the high Arctic and easy accessibility, represents a unique platform for high quality international research and education.

The Svalbard Science Forum and The Research Council of Norway in cooperation with The Norwegian Polar Institute and The Ny-Ålesund Science Managers Committee (NySMAC) invite researchers, research managers and stakeholders to the third Svalbard Science conference. The conference will focus on achieving excellent science through cooperation; enhance cooperation and quality within Svalbard research, build and strengthen interdisciplinary and international networks and consolidate Svalbard as an attractive platform for Arctic research.

Together with updates on the new strategies for research and education in Svalbard and inspirational talks from invited key notes, we invite participants to take an active role in the conference through presentations, poster sessions and group discussions.

The conference will be at Scandic Fornebu, Oslo 2–3 November 2021.

Registration will open 15 March.

Abstract submission deadline is 1 June.

Dear Svalbard Science Conference participant!

Thank you for submitting an abstract! The overall theme of the 2021 conference is cooperation and coordination to make research in Svalbard even better. When preparing your contribution please keep in mind that this is not meant to be only a presentation of your individual results. Focus on how your research contributes to answer questions of global importance and interest. Please read the descriptions of the session you are contributing to carefully to ensure that your presentation or poster is addressing that topic.

The submission deadline is 1 June 2021. The presentations will be evaluated by the scientific committee and oral presentations for the individual sessions are selected to give examples of current research relevant to the session and the overarching topic.
